Twist & Burn Ltd
Terms of Service
Last updated: 30 September 2026
1.Who we are
Twist & Burn is operated by Twist & Burn Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17234299, with its registered office at Suite RA01, 195-197 Wood Street, London, E17 3NU, United Kingdom(“we”, “us”, “our”).
You can contact us at support@twistandburn.com.
These terms govern your use of the Twist & Burn platform at twistandburn.com and any content we provide through it. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2.Eligibility
The service is for adults only. You must be 18 or over to create an account, and you must be of legal age to view adult content in the jurisdiction from which you access the service.
By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements. We may suspend or terminate any account where we have reasonable grounds to believe the account holder is under 18. Our Content & Age Policy sets out further detail.
3.The service
Twist & Burn publishes original serialised fiction. Each story is delivered as a series of issues, and each issue may include written prose, cinematic video and audio narration.
At the end of each issue you make a choice which determines how that issue resolves for you. Your choices are recorded against your account and shape the version of the story you receive.
Chapter 1 of every issue is available free of charge to all account holders and will remain so.
Reading across devices. Your reading position and your recorded choices are saved to your account, so you can stop on one device and continue on another. Two devices open at the same moment will not update each other instantly.
4.Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity on your account.
Accounts are personal to you. They may not be shared, sold, transferred, or used by more than one person. We may limit the number of devices or simultaneous sessions on an account, and we may suspend or terminate accounts where usage indicates the account is being shared.
You must give accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
5.Subscription tiers and pricing
| Tier | Price | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Curious | Free | Chapter 1 of every issue |
| Insider | £9.99 per month | All published content |
| Keeper | £14.99 per month | All published content, the Character Hub, and additional save slots |
Prices are shown in pounds sterling. If you are outside the United Kingdom, prices may be displayed and charged in your local currency at an exchange rate set by our payment processor. The amount you will be charged is shown before you confirm payment.
Price changes. We may change our standard prices. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before the change takes effect on your subscription, and you may cancel before then if you do not wish to continue.
VAT. We are not currently registered for VAT, and the prices shown include no VAT element. If we become registered, prices will be treated as inclusive of VAT at the applicable rate from the date of registration, and we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before any resulting change to the amount you pay.
6.The founding rate
Subscribers who take a paid tier during the founding window receive a permanently reduced price on that tier, described as the founding rate.
The window. The founding window opens when the service launches and closes at 23:59 UK time on the seventh day after launch. The closing date and time are shown on the site throughout the window.
Eligibility. To qualify you must take a paid tier within the window, and you must not previously have held a paid subscription with us.
What it means. The founding rate is not an introductory offer or a trial. It applies for as long as your subscription runs unbroken. If we increase our standard prices, we will maintain the same reduction against the new standard price for founding subscribers.
The following rules apply:
- The founding rate is tied to the tier you took during the window.
- If you move to a lower tier, the reduction carries down and you pay the founding rate for that tier.
- If you move to a higher tier, the reduction does not carry up. You pay the standard price for the higher tier.
- If your subscription is cancelled, the founding rate ends permanently. Subscribing again at any later date is at standard pricing, and it cannot be reinstated.
- If a payment fails, the founding rate is retained for as long as we and our payment processor continue attempting to collect. If the subscription lapses after those attempts are exhausted, the founding rate is lost permanently as if cancelled.
- Pausing your subscription does not end the founding rate.
- The founding rate is not transferable and ends if the account is deleted.
- The founding rate cannot be combined with the retention discount offered in our cancellation process.
We do not intend to repeat this offer. Any future promotion will be different in kind.
7.Billing and renewal
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. Payment is taken on the same date each month, or on the nearest available date in shorter months.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method for each renewal until you cancel.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, our payment processor will attempt to collect it again over a period of up to 7 days, and we will contact you by email. Your access continues during this period. If payment cannot be collected by the end of it, your subscription will end and your access to paid content will stop. You can subscribe again at any time, but at standard pricing, and any founding rate is lost permanently as set out in section 6.
Nothing you have read is lost when a subscription ends. Your account, your reading position and your recorded choices remain, and resume where you left off if you subscribe again.
8.Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep access until then.
We do not offer partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period.
Your statutory cancellation right. As a consumer you would normally have 14 days to cancel a distance contract and receive a refund. Because we provide digital content immediately, you are asked when you subscribe to agree to immediate access and to acknowledge that you lose that right once access begins. If you do not agree, we cannot provide access until the 14 days have passed.
This does not affect your rights where the service is not as described, not of satisfactory quality, or not provided with reasonable care and skill.
9.Pausing your subscription
You may pause your subscription for one, three or six months. You choose the period when you pause.
No payment is taken while you are paused, and your access to paid content is suspended for that period. Your subscription resumes automatically at the end of it and payment restarts. We will contact you before that happens so it is not a surprise.
You can end a pause early and resume at any time from your account. Pausing does not affect a founding rate.
10.Our publishing commitment
We aim to publish two issues per month, on the 1st and the 15th.
If we fail to publish two issues in a calendar month, we will not charge subscribers for the following month. This is your sole remedy for a missed publication, and it does not apply where publication is delayed by events outside our reasonable control.
11.Your licence to use our content
All content on the platform, including prose, video, audio, artwork and the platform itself, is owned by us or licensed to us and is protected by copyright.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and enjoy the content for your own private use while your subscription is active.
You may not:
- copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, sell, rent or lend any part of the content
- record, capture, screenshot, screen-record or otherwise reproduce the content for the purpose of sharing it with others
- download, extract or store video, audio or images other than through the normal operation of the service
- adapt, translate or create derivative works from the content
- remove any copyright notice, watermark or other identifying mark
- circumvent, disable or interfere with any technical measure we use to protect the content or to control access to it
- use any automated means to access, scrape or download content
Doing any of these things is a breach of these terms and may also infringe copyright. We may terminate your account without refund.
Watermarking. Content delivered to your account may carry markings, visible or otherwise, that identify the account it was delivered to. If content is shared publicly we may use those markings to identify the account it came from.
12.Acceptable use
You must not use the service to break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform. You must not share your account, use automated means to access or download content, or attempt to interfere with the service’s operation.
13.Availability
We aim to keep the service available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service for maintenance, and we may change or discontinue features.
If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give subscribers reasonable notice and will not charge for periods after it ends.
14.Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if we reasonably believe you are under 18, if we reasonably believe your account is being shared, if we are required to by law, or if your payment method is used fraudulently.
Where we terminate for breach we may do so without refund. Where we terminate for any other reason we will refund the unused portion of your current billing period.
15.Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses, since this service is provided for personal use.
16.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, and you may cancel before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
17.Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your own country.
Nothing here affects your rights as a consumer under the law of the country in which you live.
